Move over, Kris Jenner — there’s a new reality squad mom in town. Word on the street is that Queen of Christmas and all things diva-related, Mariah Carey, has a new docu-style series in the works. The show is said to feature behind-the-scenes drama of her Las Vegas residency and her upcoming tour. With Mariah’s Squad as its working title, this sounds to be just the remedy for any dwindling faith in reality television. “The show is about Mariah and the crew around her,” said a source. “It’s nuts. Mariah is very funny on camera.”
This is a welcome change of pace from just last year, when Mimi crushed dreams of such a show by sassing the entire culture surrounding the phenomenon. “Today, you can be famous just from being on a reality, well, doing — you don’t really have to do much, but you kinda gotta do a lot,” she said, not needing to name names. “And then your whole life is just about being a celebrity and that’s what some people aspire to, because it’s easy and because then everybody knows them and all they see is the bright side of fame.”
If Mariah’s Squad is half as drama-filled as her iconic MTV Cribs episode — in which Mimi breaks up an animal fight, bathes amongst “guest chandeliers,” and has an assistant change her from one dress to another as she sashays across the carpet — this is going to be the best thing to hit screens since… well, MTV Cribs.
