Not ones for drawn out corporate-sponsored album-teasing campaigns, Radiohead has released its second new track and video in a week, along with confirmation that its new album will be out at 7pm this Sunday — though a title has not been revealed as of yet.
Following on from the stop-motion animated video for intense, strings-heavy track “Burn The Witch,” which arrived on Tuesday, the band has now released “Daydream,” a twinkling keys and bells affair that progresses into more intense strings toward the end, closing with what sounds like snoring, but also very much like a voice recorded backwards. We’re working on the mechanics of playing YouTube videos backwards to get confirmation on that!
“Dreamers, they never learn,” Yorke sings, while in the visual he walks purposely through homes, shops, a laundry, library and hospital, as well as forests, beaches, snowy peaks, and a fire filled cave. Another lyric explains, “This goes beyond me, beyond you.” We’re not wishing the weekend away or anything, but 7pm Sunday can’t come fast enough.
