It’s been only a few months since Raf Simons presented his Robert Mapplethorpe inspired spring/summer 17 collection at Pitti Immagine Uomo, but it appears the Belgian designer has, for now, given his last own-label men’s show on European soil.
On 1 February 2017, Simons will present his eponymous fall/winter 17 men’s collection in New York, marking the first time the label has appeared at the CFDA’s New York Fashion Week: Men’s.The move follows his appointment as chief creative officer at Calvin Klein, also based in the city; with his first collection for the iconic American label expected a week later, during the womenswear shows.
Simons also made headlines this week after rumors began to circulate about a possible future collaboration with Sterling Ruby, after the American artist was seen visiting the Calvin Klein headquarters. While those rumors remain unconfirmed, it appears the European designer is making efforts to strengthen his ties across the pond, two months into his appointment at one of the country’s most famous and storied brands.
