Few contemporary names in the fashion pantheon have captured the hearts and imaginations of the masses like Alexander McQueen. His work, avant-garde in the truest sense, defined so much of the zeitgeist and fashion landscape during his lifetime, and his brand continues to do so a decade after his death. McQueen, now helmed by creative director Sarah Burton, remains one of London’s most revered labels.

Following on from last week’s news that McQueen are donating old fabric to young designers, a gorgeous 74 lot-strong archive of McQueen’s spellbinding rare early work is going to auction, comprising of everything from garments hand-sewn by the late designer himself to sketches, patterns, and some personal items. All lovingly preserved by Ruti Danan, a member of the original McQueen studio team and friend to Lee, the items auction run ends tomorrow.

With pieces from his infamous Highland Rape, Banshee and The Hunger collections making an appearance here, Ruti’s archive is so sought after that a number of her pieces were loaned for New York and London’s record-breaking Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibitions. If you have the cash lying around, this is, as Bobby Livingston, Executive VP at RR Auctions (who are hosting the sale) says: “a once-in-a-lifetime chance to own such a unique portion of fashion history.”

A live auction will take place at the Omni-Parker House in Boston, MA beginning at 1pm Eastern Standard Time. Start scraping those pennies together ASAP.
