Reebok x Victoria Beckham’s latest drop delivers sophisticated sportswear

Fusing sporty dynamism with elevated functionality, the latest collaborative capsule offers the perfect transitional wardrobe.

An effortless versatility – a fine balance between a heightened sense of elegance and a functional, wardrobe-oriented approach to dressing – has long been a pillar of Victoria Beckham’s namesake ready-to-wear label. Since 2018, the London-based fashion house has made bold strides into the world of sportswear, bringing its distinct design signature to a suite of capsules created in collaboration with Reebok. For the sixth drop of its longstanding partnership with the American fitness giant, the fusion of sophistication and function that Victoria Beckham is known for informs a new capsule of activewear essentials.

Just as for Drop 5, this season sees Victoria look to court sports for inspiration – albeit a different sort this time around. “At the beginning of the design process I always start with one key piece that references a particular sport,” she shares. “Last season was all about the tennis dress whereas this Drop sees the introduction of a wide-leg basketball warm-up trouser inspired by my travels to the US,” resulting in an easier-wearing, streetier tone to the offer this time around.

In a swathe of muted, earthen hues – blacks, beiges, clays and seaspray greens reminiscent of English coastal holidays – boxy tees are cropped to flatteringly frame the waist, while culotte-ish, wide-leg abbreviated trousers bring transitional flair into the mix – they’re as easily worn to the gym as they are integrated into your everyday wardrobe, worn with a favourite jacket and pair of low-top sneakers.

If you’re short for either of those, though, then you’re in luck; this is a drop that has you covered. This season’s footwear offering comprises the VB Zig Kinetica, a sporty silhouette in neon solar yellow, while the more classic, minimalist VB Club C – which features embossed logo detailing – comes in contrasting tonal black-and-white colourways, as well as a calm, pastel coral hue. For this season’s jackets, Victoria looked to her own closet staples for inspiration.  “My vintage wardrobe also plays a big part in the look and feel of each capsule, the Reebok M65 Parka nods to one of my favourite jackets,” she says. “We’ve cropped it, cut it to the waist and fitted it with wide pockets so it can be worn all day long.”

In the more gym-focussed looks, Reebok x Victoria Beckham’s signature seamless knit technique has been further developed to allow for a more compact weave on sculpted crop tops and leggings, allowing for greater comfort and range of motion for the wearer, as well as greater support. They’re complemented by cropped French terry hoodies constructed with an additional layer for greater warmth during recovery, as well as caps and a modular, multipocketed backpack.

Bringing the versatile spirit of the collection to life, i-D fashion editor and stylist Bojana Kozarevic and photographer Alex Leese has shot its comprising pieces of two of London’s freshest female new faces. Shot against backgrounds that bring the collection’s dulcet hues into relief, the images combine a soft glamour with a gymnastic strength conveyed through the models’ poses. Straddling sporty dynamism and refined elegance, they speak to the ethos at the heart of Reebok x Victoria Beckham’s latest drop – one of multifaceted, empowered femininity.
