Fashion is ever-changing, but one constant is the industry’s eternal love for fashion visionary Rei Kawakubo. The Comme des Garçons and Dover Street Market founder has amassed a dedicated following who jump for joy at the release of every collection. Despite being a woman of few words, (the designer infamously declines almost all interviews), Kawakubo might finally give us the chance to get inside her mind. She’s believed to be the subject of a solo exhibition at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art come next May, according to WWD.
Should reports be confirmed, it would be only the second time a living designer has had an exhibition dedicated to them at The Met — legendary editor Diana Vreeland organized an Yves Saint Laurent exhibition in 1983 Until then, we wait with baited breath to discover if the Comme archive of inky black, deconstructed garments will be assembled for the world to see. Here’s hoping!
