The Greek designer saves the last dance for us.

Mary Katrantzou, this season, is in the business of love. Young love, particularly, and, if we’re going to be specific about it, the kind of love that makes you feels as though your body is floating through infinite space. It’s a concept that reels everything in, from the music (opening with the Drifters’ landmark pop hit “Save the Last Dance for Me”) to the set (joyous, ethereal and, in a nod to Andy Warhol’s 1966 Silver Clouds exhibition, adorned with huge metallic balloons).

Of course, there was plenty of love in the clothes too, the Americana theme — dubbed “Cowboys and Princesses” and “Rodeo and Juliet” — adding to the it feels-like-it-does-in-the-movies-feel (aided by a tinfoil runway that snaps and crackles like cooking popcorn under the feet of the models).

It’s all very heightened — bold prints, bordeaux pouts and Swarovski embellishments — because that’s what love is: heightened. Hell, under those huge silver balloons, it could almost be prom night. Oh, darling, save the last dance for us.
