rose quartz: music to…play for cold cowboys in ibiza

This mix from the Rose Quartz crew is a case in the unlikely argument that Ibiza is Tasmania’s frigid spiritual party counterpart.

This April Tasmanian local Nathan Savage is taking on the mammoth task of creating an environmentally minded dance music festival in the Tassie wilderness. Rose Quartz is about nature, scenery, isolation, and you know, bangers. Over two nights Nathan will bring the party to the misty shores of Lake Pedder—a submerged crystalline beach.

Dance floor svengalis like Kangaroo SkullAndras and OscarMichael OzoneRoland TingsCat Lips and Wax’O Paradiso will put on what has to be the most beautiful rager in Australia. But to get you in mood ahead of time Nathan (under his DJ alas Bronze Savage) and Simon TK have created a special mix for i-D.

Describing it as, “A distinct mix that can roll from abrasive to melancholic” the unlikely cowboy vibe is certainly felt. If you were wondering where the Ibiza reference relates to a party held on a mythical crystal beach, apparently locals like to consider Tasmania the island’s frigid spiritual party-counterpart. We assume the festival will be trying to prove that observation true. Hey, once you swap crystal waters for crystal sands you’re halfway there.
