Hedi Slimane’s casting has always consisted of a myriad of carefree, leggy kids with a bit of attitude. When he’s not busy recruiting the likes of Jake Bugg or Cherry Glazerr, Slimane is rounding up the next rock-chick-a-like to star in his Saint Laurent Paris campaigns. Following in the footsteps of Natalie Westling and Grace Hartzel, Kiki Willems is the next long limbed lovely to take the limelight. 18-years-old and discovered in Amsterdam, Kiki is now signed to IMG and can be spotted making out with a blonde boy, dancing on tables or reclining on the floor next to said table in a sparkly dress and disco heels in the spring/summer 15 campaign. We caught up with the star-in-the-making….
What’s your career highlight so far?
Shooting the campaign for Saint Laurent! It was an amazing experience being part of such a huge creative process and to work with such talented individuals. I literally enjoyed every second of it. Still can’t believe that it actually happened. It’s an absolute honour to be part of this incredible campaign. Seeing the pictures brings back all the memories, and ohhh that makes me so happy!
Any New Year’s resolutions?
My all-time favourite, the one I make every year; be kind and grateful to everyone. Also I told myself to enjoy every second of all the experiences that are going to happen this year and cherish all the beautiful moments and people I will meet.
What was the last thing that made you laugh?
Well this question made me giggle!
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
I don’t think there is just one piece of advice I can choose. For me meeting inspiring people, talking with them and learning from them is one of the most incredible things in life. I’ve met very exceptional individuals, who have inspired me and made me think about things in life. My mum is one hell of an inspiring women, who I can have the best conversations with and who gives me the best advice.
If there was a song to soundtrack your life, what would it be?
This is a difficult one, I’m not a huge fan of the dramatic story-telling lyrics in songs. For me the song We Could Forever by Bonobo puts a smile on my face as soon as it starts. Many beautiful memories are attached to this song, so it brings me back to these special moments. The emotion I get from this song I would love to have my entire life! And I would love to share it with the world!
What do you love most about modelling?
Being creative with even more creative people!
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Oh man, five years! I don’t even know where I see myself in two months, not to mention five years! Everything I do I try to do with the view of happiness, I think the most important thing for every human being is happiness. So in five years I hope, either way, to be happy.
