We asked a handful of our favourite photographers to look back at 2019 and remember it through the photographs they took. From i-D contributions to personal pictures of friends, family and strangers on the street, this is Sean+Seng’s: My Year in Photos.
You probably know the work of Sean+Seng already, as it’s graced the covers of fashion magazines the world over. The photography duo both studied Fashion Photography at University of the Arts London and, since graduating, have become one of the industry’s most revered duos. Working with the likes of Pop, Arena Homme, Dazed and Vogue, their portfolio is a mixture of glossy fashion imagery, some editorials shot in studios, others against vast open landscapes. For their year in photography, the pair take us across the world…
Atacama
The Andes, a vicuna, salt lakes and Seng. The new year started with us driving though the Atacama desert to the border of Argentina, taking time for silence and stillness, before we travelled on to the next part of our journey and the reason for us being in South America.
Easter Island
Easter Island, the most remote island in the world. The trip we’d been planning and working on for almost a year, and the start of our book project of the island, known locally as Rapa Nui. Seven days of chaos and calm, tropical heat and rain. Casting, location hunting, and begging the indigenous council to grant us permission to shoot with the Moais.
Paris
Midnight in Paris.
Moscow
A snow storm in Moscow, en route to meet Svetlan the bear. Walking on frozen lakes, getting the van stuck in the snow in a forest, and eating dumplings in the city.
Mexico City
Chapulines, mezcal and hanging out on a ranch just outside of Mexico City.

New York summer days, smog, traffic, noise, and Kiki with a giant white bow.
