Beauty giant Sephora have announced a new initiative, offering make up and beauty classes to trans and nonbinary customers. As an evolution of the company’s Classes for Confidence project, this initiative was developed by transgender employees — or cast members as they’re called at Sephora — who genuinely understand and appreciate the innate needs of this community.

The complimentary workshops, which originally launched in 2016 with products and techniques for people undergoing cancer treatment, will take place in over 150 stores around the world and also be filmed as video tutorials on a dedicated YouTube channel . According to them, the tutorials will cover “colour correction, smoothing the skin, and other topics suggested during focus groups with trans members of the community.”

Dominique Anderson, a colour consultant with the company hopes, “to teach clients tricks that I use myself to soften up features and achieve certain looks. I want to instil confidence in my clients so that when they walk out of Sephora, they feel comfortable letting the world know who they are.”

In addition to the workshops, Sephora plan to allocate a portion of proceeds of a number of their dedicated products to keep the project running, a program which promises to address the needs of people in the midst of major life transitions.

Australian Sephora stores have yet to schedule classes but have announced that they will launch them in the future.
