Though Sia releases her This Is Acting album in full tomorrow, she hasn’t finished teasing us just yet. Last night, a track from the album called “BrokenGlass” premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show and it’s a typically melodic power ballad culminating in a series of irresistible key changes. With one exception, This Is Acting features songs that Sia originally wrote for other artists to record, so it’s tempting to guess who “Broken Glass” might have been intended for. Sia’s already revealed that other tracks on the album were turned down by A-list stars including Adele, BeyoncĂ© and Rihanna.
Meanwhile, Sia promoted the album with an appearance on last night’s episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. As well as delivering a live rendition of her This Is Acting banger “Cheap Thrills” —which RiRi passed on, FYI — she covered the classic New Orleans song “Iko Iko” with Fallon, his house band The Roots and fellow guest Natalie Portman. If you’re wondering whether Fallon and Portman wore Sia wigs for the performance, the answer is yes, of course they did. Check out Sia’s acoustic and super-percussive take on “Iko Iko” below.
