It’s been three long years since Unapologetic, and with the launch of immersive smartphone platform ANTiDiaRy and the announcement of her 2016 ANTI world tour, it’s been expected that Rihanna’s eighth studio album will be released any day now. Not so, says collaborator Sia. Speaking on Jo Whiley’s BBC Radio 2 show, the face-covering songwriter revealed that Rihanna is actually still looking for tracks to put on the album.
“She came over to my house for the first time the other night. I had met her very briefly before — super sweet person — and the other night she came over and listened to half of 25 songs I played her because she’s still looking for songs for her new album,” Sia said, adding, “She was there clearly to listen to songs and see if there was anything she was into, it was a business meeting, for sure”.
Sia went on to say that Rihanna took four tracks, but that she doesn’t know if they will be on the album. “I’m pretty sure I have one on the new album but I don’t know if I’ll end up with more than that,” she told Wiley.
Looks like we won’t be seeing ANTI drop until 2016, though presumably it will appear before the tour starts in San Diego on February 26. Ah Rih, always keeping eager listeners (and journalists) on their toes.
