He might have been noticeable by his absence at this year’s Brit Awards, but Boy Better Know’s Skepta has just been nominated for a prestigious Ivor Novello. Following in the footsteps of songwriting royalty Paul McCartney, Madonna, Elton John and Jamelia, the London-born grime artist has received a nod in the category of Best Contemporary Song for his 2015 single Shutdown (and long overdue it is too). Joining him at this year’s awards will be i-D favs Wolf Alice and Years & Years, but what we’re most looking forward to is the Artist Formerly Known as Joseph Adenuga sitting in the front row, in the black tracksuit and it’s shut down.
