Between recording her highly anticipated sophomore LP Masochism, directing her own Playboy shoot, and working on the forthcoming Twin Peaks revival, Sky Ferreira is certainly keeping busy these days. Now, Deadline reports that Ferreira will star alongside Emory Cohen, Rory Culkin, and Jack Kilmer in Jonas Åkerlund’s film Lord of Chaos. The movie will trace the often-disturbing history of Norwegian black metal band Mayhem, which notoriously includes church burnings and making jewelry out of a deceased band member’s skull.
Chaos seems poised to be a departure from Åkerlund’s usual fare. Since winning a Grammy for directing Madonna’s 1999 “Ray of Light” video, his distinctive cinematographic style has been one of the most sought-out in the pop music industry. His work also includes music videos for Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” and U2’s “Beautiful Day.” Most recently, he directed the fantastic “Hold Up” segment of Beyoncé’s Lemonade.
As for Ferreira, this is the latest role in a string of acting gigs. Aside from her upcoming appearance in the third season of Twin Peaks, the Night Time, My Time singer will also star as Ansel Elgort’s mother in the forthcoming crime comedy Baby Driver. Though her exact role in Lord of Chaos is unknown, expect plenty of good chaos coming from Ferreira very soon.
