London producer Will Archer is better known as Slime. We’re not sure why, and the name certainly isn’t very indicative of his sound, but we like it. Obsessed by electronic music and the idea that the possibilities are endless, the multi-instrumentalist makes unexpected RnB that instantly takes you to a hazy place peppered with sexy sax. If you haven’t already, we highly recommend you check out his Dan Brereton-directed video for Hotdog in which, yes, a giant hotdog man walks around a lonely village by himself. As we await the release of his debut album Company, due to drop 14th August via Weird World, take time out and treat yourself to Slime’s Slumber Session. With a melange of classical and laidback classic rock, Cast yourself Away with Alan Silvestri’s iconic movie theme ande soothe yourself to sleep to the comforting crackle of a record player.
The party’s still going strong but you want to call it a night. What track do you pop on when everyone’s still raving and it’s time to go to sleep?
George Formby, When I’m Cleaning Windows.
Where do you go when the record ends and the lights come on?
I would make a point of being at home sleeping long before that ever happens.
Do you ever fall asleep to music?
Never music. Always familiar sounds or words… a Bill Hicks set or the sound of a Simpsons episode.
What’s the best dream you’ve ever had?
The reoccurring dream of sliding down a polished wooden banister in a department store.
You’ve caught each other’s eye across a crowded dance floor… What do you play to ensure things move from the box to the bedroom?
Cast Away Theme by Alan Silvestri
Sleep is always the hardest to come by when you need it the most. What track is guaranteed to bring on the shuteye after a heavy weekend?
Watching golf on TV sedates me, and most people.
What song gets you out of bed in the morning?
Tiny Tim, Living In The Sunlight
What is the most relaxing track/mix/playlist in your collection?
Melonjolie by Mr Blazey
The music sounds better with…
nobody around.
