Amber Rose—feminist, SlutWalk champion, talk-no-shit Twitter hero—is getting her own talk show. VH1 has inked a deal with Muva to create a weekly series where she talks gender, race, and feminism with her famous mates. Here’s hoping Blac Chyna becomes a regular.
The series will be handled by Dr. Phil’s production company, which seems like an oddly conservative pairing until you hear what the good Doctor has to say about Amber. It seems like he gets it—as much as an old guy could. “She has affectionately become known as the face of neo-feminism,” Phil said, “Ms. Rose’s rise to massive popularity is now largely attributed to her controversial yet impactful perspective on women’s issues.”
It won’t be Amber’s first time on TV. She’s appeared on RuPaul’s Drag Race and the scripted comedy Black-ish. There was also her much-discussed appearance on Tyrese Gibson and Rev. Run’s show It’s Not You, It’s Men, where she schooled the pair on consent. “If I’m laying down with a man, butt-naked, and his condom is on, and I say, ‘You know what? No. I don’t want to do this. I changed my mind,’ that means no. That means f-ing no. That’s it.”
Judging by her Twitter announcement, Rose is psyched about the project. “I finally have a voice & ur gonna love what I have 2 say,” she wrote. You know what Amber? I bet we will. The show is slated to premiere mid-2016: any minute now.
