stranger peaks: listen to an incredible mashup of the ‘twin peaks’ and ‘stranger things’ themes

Angelo Badalamenti goes synthwave (oh, and watch the first trailer for a new David Lynch doc too).

A small town on the edge of a forest that contains an entrance to an alternate dimension: Twin Peaks or Stranger Things? Well both, obviously, and the similarities don’t end there. Both shows have been commended for their amazing soundtracks — who could forget Angelo Badalamenti’s lilting, mournful two-note intro, or Survive’s jangling cold arpeggios? Taking the best of both (alternate) worlds, band Prom Queen have made a cover of the Twin Peaks theme in the style of Stranger Things’, aptly titled Stranger Peaks.

In other David Lynch news, the planned feature-length doc, The Art Life, about cinema’s fave coffee making transcendental meditator finally has a trailer, ahead of its planned premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 4. It’s as perfectly David Lynch as you’d expect a documentary about David Lynch to be. Three years in the making, the film is built up from over 20 interviews with the director, with David taking us on a journey through his life and creative struggles.
