Over its 22 year lifespan, Supreme has collaborated with and celebrated musical icons and scenes across genres and decades. This year alone, the NYC skate stalwart has created pieces inspired by prolific rapper Gucci Mane, seminal metal outfit Black Sabbath, Barrington Levy and Jah Life’s collaborative reggae work from the late 70s, and hip-hop duo Capone N Noreaga. Today, Supreme has unveiled a new music-inspired collection and revealed its accompanying video; the brand pays homage to California thrash metal icon Slayer.
Yesterday, Supreme posted a video to Instagram capturing Slayer’s live gigs. Shot by Ricky Saiz using a combination of lo-fi and colorful film, the video shows frontman Tom Araya performing in a Supreme t-shirt, while other members of the audience mosh (one crowd surfer rocks a Supreme tee, too). “So much aggression, so much pleasure, so much blood,” the video’s voiceover states. “This band brought it.”
The video accompanies Supreme’s new Slayer collaborative collection, which includes M65 military issue and coaches jackets, a sweater, waffle thermal, crew neck, hoodie, sweat pants, four t-shirt styles, and a five-panel hat. The offering features instantly-recognizable Slayer iconography, most notably the band’s eagle logo, which appeared around the same time as the release of its 1990 album, Seasons in the Abyss.
Supreme’s Slayer collection will be available online and at its Paris, London, and New York stores on November 10. Japanese metalheads can look forward to its release in Japan stores on November 12.
