Riccardo Tisci is having yet another moment. Having celebrated his 10th anniversary as the head of the Givenchy with a high-profile show at New York Fashion Week, the famous designer headed to Milan on Friday to open the house’s impressive new flagship Italian store and celebrate with another of his legendary parties (this time complete with a performance by Nicki Minaj). At the new space in Via Sant’Andrea 11, you can immerse yourself in Universe Givenchy, all spread over two floors and including a labyrinth of mirrors and a huge aquarium in the women’s section.s.
Clearly proud of the new store, Philippe Fortunato, chief executive of Givenchy, said, “We tried to stay on topic and be modern highlighting the contrasts. Everything is done to impress and defy expectations but always respecting the past – the presence here of a giant aquarium certainly leaves you speechless. We wanted to create something that was consistent with the values of our brand, as much as it’s important for the market of today and tomorrow.” Tisci might be a Southern Italian at heart, but Italy’s fashion capital was the only choice for Givenchy’s latest store.
