Jess PW, whose given name is Jessica Picton-Warlow, is a blonde haired blue eyed beauty from Perth who moved to New York last year due to popular demand. Since then, she’s had little reason to look back. During the most recent fashion month, Jess was a runway regular: in addition to opening for Marni, she walked in a total of 52 shows, gracing the catwalk for everyone from Prada, Versace and YSL to Givenchy, Paco Rabanne and Alexander McQueen. With a talent for chameleon-like shapeshifting, Jess has the ability to effortlessly capture the spirit of a collection — it’s a talent that hasn’t gone unnoticed. We caught up with the charming and super funny eighteen year old to get to know her a little better.
1. Jess was a national finalist in the 2012 Girlfriend Model Search before being scouted by Vivien’s in the crowd at the 2013 Big Day Out.
2. Her favourite looks from the spring/summer 17 shows involved contradictions…
“I loved the idea of the good-looking badass, like a girl that wears flowing gowns with combat boots transforming her into some sort of handsome hellion.”
3. She loves being a model…
“I’m addicted to the randomness. The notion and reality that someone can just call you up and send you from New York to Paris within the hour is cool.”
4. She had a revelation during fashion month..
“I realised early on that most of the situations that happen over fashion month are out of your control so you’ve just gotta go with it and try enjoy it for what it is.”
5. She had a favourite song out of all the shows she walked in…
“It was definitely a track from the Coach show called Listen to Contraption by Three Oh Sees.”
6. Despite not changing her look dramatically so far, if she did, it would be extreme…
“If I changed my look up I’d commit to the shaved head!”
7. Her advice to aspiring young models is simple…
“Walk into every part of your job like you’re meant to be there.”
8. Her little brother Harry is also a model who won the Vivien’s Perth Model Search this year.
9. It’s the simple things that get her through fashion month…
“I’m honestly not sure how I’d do it without my friends or Google maps.”
10. She’s an optimist…
“I have no idea where I’ll be in five years but it will be somewhere good.”
