Before Saint Laurent sparked a new psychedelic revolution on the catwalks for spring/summer 15, a little London club night called Cave was packed with pretty young things in paisley and polka dots, buzzing with the best psych sounds in town. After seven successful years at Islington’s Buffalo Bar, the monthly party is relaunching at the West End’s legendary 100 Club this Saturday.

The Cave Club has been at the forefront of the new wave of psychedelic bands that have erupted in and around London over the past few years. “The party was a regular haunt for many of the bands before they even existed,” says host and resident DJ Rhys Webb. Bands like Temples and Toy have not only played the Cave, but come of age there.

Peer through the crowded dance floor and you wouldn’t be surprised to spot a few familiar faces in the crowd. Everyone from Bobby Gillespie to Pam Hogg, Sean Lennon to Allison Mosshart has been known to stop by, and Hedi Slimane himself has been spotted snapping pictures there.

The atmosphere is inviting and unpretentious, and the party looks to only get bigger and better at its brand new home. “We’re hoping to stir up a bit of punk trouble that the venue is so well known for,” says Webb. “Expect an evening of psych, synths, and punk. A great excuse to have a party and explore mind-altering sights and sounds.”
