London designers J.W. Anderson, Thomas Tait, Agi & Sam, Nasir Mazhar, Claire Barrow, Christopher Raeburn, Phoebe English, Bobby Abley, Peter Pilotto and Preen by Thornton Bregazzi have all designed limited edition sweatshirts and T-shirts to celebrate the release today of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The designs will be available exclusively at Selfridges from 19 November, with all proceeds going to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

i-D can exclusively reveal a behind-the-scenes film of Nasir Mazhar, Claire Barrow and Bobby Abley ahead of the garments’ release in stores, discussing their designs for the project, and the scenes and characters that inspired them from the iconic original Star Wars trilogy to new characters like Captain Phasma, who Claire Barrow describes as a “strong woman telling armies of stormtroopers what to do”.

As well as the T-shirts and sweatshirts, each designer has created two full catwalk looks that will be revealed at a presentation on 26 November in London, with beauty looks created by legendary make-up artist Pat McGrath. After the presentation, fans will be able to own the catwalk looks by bidding in an online auction, again with all proceeds going to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity as part of the Star Wars: Force for Change initiative by Disney and Lucasfilm that inspires people to make a positive impact on the world around them.

A parallel initiative is being run in a galaxy far, far away… well, over the pond in the US, with a collection of outfits by Opening Ceremony, Giles Deacon, Halston, Diane von Furstenberg, Cynthia Rowley, Ovadia & Sons, Parker, Rag & Bone, Timo Weiland and Todd Snyder being auctioned for charity.

The online auction will open on 26 November at www.starwarsfashion.london.
