Lick it up baby! Following news that cult teen classic Heathers is getting a LGBT-friendly TV reboot, Shannen Doherty has taken to Instagram to confirm her involvement. The OG teen screen queen posted a BTS picture of herself in character, red scrunchie in place. “Jealous much?” said the caption. Um, yes.
While little information has been offered about the series or Shannen’s role, TV Land has confirmed that she plays a “pivotal unnamed character”. If you cast your mind back to the original movie, Shannen’s character was the only Heather who never got to wear the scrunchie (which was last seen with Veronica, played exquisitely by Winona Ryder). And the differences don’t end there. The remake will reportedly feature a African-American lesbian, a male who identifies as gender-queer and a Heather who’s described as “having a body like Martha Dumptruck”. Welcome to Heathers 2.0.
