More badass Harley Quinn + more weird comedy = yes.

The latest Suicide Squad trailer premiered at the MTV Movie Awards last night, and it’s two minutes and 24 seconds of pure, unadulterated badassery. As we saw in January’s trailer, the film is shaping up to be a clever mix of traditional nonstop action and sheer weirdness. This trailer is just as heavy on Jared Leto’s crazed Joker and Margot Robbie’s psychotic Harley Quinn — the extra-bizarre characters generating the most hype. We also get to see a little more of Viola Davis as commandeering U.S. Intelligence Officer Amanda Waller, and Will Smith as the boss of the squad, Deadpool. Even Cara Delevingne throws us a few creepy, wide-eyed glares as Enchantress.

Amid rumors of reshoots due to the film’s lack of comedy (Suicide Squad will be Warner Bros.’ blockbuster follow-up to the gloomy Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice), yesterday’s trailer lays on the jokes — mostly courtesy of Harley Quinn. Director David Ayer responded to the rumors, claiming that the reshoots were caused instead by the studio’s desire for more action — which is just as likely, considering they’ve also upped the energy for this trailer a few notches.

While the movie’s release is still a few months away (it hits theaters August 5), if this trailer is any indication, Suicide Squad is going to be the most successful DC Extended Universe flick thus far, since the bad guys are just more fun.
