Late last year, fashionable cyber nerds flipped out when Louis Vuitton unveiled its new campaign star: Final Fantasy‘s Lightning. The pink-haired, samurai sword-wielding vixen’s Series 4 campaign followed the brand’s knockout spring/summer 16 collection, one inspired by virtual reality, NASA, and manga. Lightning’s campaign also set the stage for Vuitton’s next move: tapping Jaden Smith to lead a gender-fluid army of irreverent youth warriors. Under Nicholas Ghesquière — one of contemporary fashion’s most forward-thinking creative directors — the French house has re-emerged as a future-minded powerhouse. Today, rumors began circulating that Vuitton’s next stars are people who represent youth’s bright future and sci-fi’s analogue past. Ghesquière was hanging with the Stranger Things kids.
Earlier this morning, the creative director shared a snap with Millie Bobby Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, and Gaten Matarazzo — who play Eleven, Lucas, and Dustin on the breakout Netflix series — tagged at Louis Vuitton headquarters. “GOT STRANGERS IN THE HOUSE TODAY,” Ghesquière wrote. Brown shared her own adorable selfie with the creative director soon after. Millie’s rocking a chic bomber and slicked back hair in the selfie; a pale pink coat with fur trim and round frame sunglasses in the group shot.
With Paris Fashion Week on the horizon, we suspect the Stranger Things cast will make a #frow appearance at Vuitton’s show come October 5. It seems pretty likely, considering Millie had already dropped by NYFW, appearing at Coach and Rag & Bone with Stranger Things co-star Winona Ryder. But given Ghesquière’s love for futuristic fantasy (and badass girls with buzzcuts) we’re hoping the cast has been enlisted for collection inspiration or a full-fledged campaign. The Stranger Things theme song has been remixed by everyone from Twin Peaks freaks to Wiz Khalifa; how major would it be to hear those super 80s synths soundtrack Vuitton’s show?
