Unless you’ve been living underneath some sort indie-shaped rock, you’ll know that everyone’s favourite Wandsworth miserablists turned Alasdair McLellan sun gods, The xx have been hosting a series of cultural happenings and gatherings as part their ‘Night + Day’ shows in Brixton. The fringe event to a seven-night run at the district’s Academy (taking place from 8-15 March), there have been day parties and after parties and, most interestingly, a whole array of events curated by the likes of Jeremy Deller, Romain Gavras, Iain Softley, Andrea Arnold and Adwoa Aboah’s Gurls Talk.
You’ve already missed a few them, but fear not! Tomorrow will see a back to back screenings of 90s favourites Cruel Intentions, Romeo + Juliet, as well as a showing of Beyond Clueless: Charlie Lyne’s excellent journey into the mind, body and soul of the teen movie. Proceeds from all tickets go to various Brixton charities and if you like that sort of thing you can read more about it here. We’ll see you there!
