At The Serpentine Gallery in 1995, Academy Award winning actress and fashion icon Tilda Swinton slept eight hours a day in a glass case after her mentor, director Derek Jarman, died. Some 18 years later, the Scottish actress reproduced The May Be performance at MoMA, the year after her mother passed away. For The Impossible Wardrobe held in Palais de Tokyo in 2012, Tilda wore white gloves and a muslin wrap dress to show a ceremonial embroidered coat worn by Napoleon I, an Yves Saint Laurent jumpsuit worn by Betty Catroux and other museum pieces to showcase their archive.

During Eternity Dress in 2013, she reviewed the process of making a couture dress with fashion historian Olivier Saillard. Now the duet are reuniting at fashion museum Palais Galliera (where Saillard is Director) for Cloakroom, as part of Festival d’Automne à Paris, where every visitor will be greeted by the duo, deposit a coat, bag or scarf, then watch as ordinary pieces that are selected by the duo come to life as show pieces through Swinton’s touch and presentation. Everyday clothes will have a new allure and each performance will show a new collection.

Cloakroom is on 22nd – 29th November at Palais Galliera, Paris
