The future may be uncertain, but one thing’s for sure — things are not going to get any better unless we come together to affect change (even if that is over Zoom). If it’s one thing being sat at home for most of the year has shown us, it’s that humans are not meant to be isolated from each other. That’s the theme of Tommy Hilfiger’s autumn campaign, “Moving Forward Together”, which combines a host of diverse faces and initiatives in the hope of building a more inclusive and sustainable future. The brand has brought together a host of globally iconic faces who advocate for greater inclusivity for the campaign, including i-D cover stars Halima Aden and Dilone, as well as Alton Mason, Soo Joo Park and Precious Lee. It was photographed by Chris Bernabeo at Disney’s Golden Oak Ranch. Alongside the campaign, wearers will be invited to participate in customization initiatives as well as local initiatives.
“When facing extraordinary social and economic challenges, standing together is our strongest way forward” said Tommy Hilfiger of the campaign. Initiatives will include garment repair by local tailors and artisans affected by the pandemic, and being able to digitally co-create new clothes using leftover material on Tommy Hilfiger’s website. Evidently, Tommy wants to do something sustainable during a time when many feel like it’s been left off the agenda in the face of the pandemic. “Every challenge is an opportunity,” says Tommy. “It can take you one step closer to achieving your dream, reinvigorate your sense of wonder, and inspire creativity you never knew you had. Through Moving Forward Together, we’re on a journey to help reignite that creative spark and offer help where it’s needed most.”
Moving Forward Together is the latest of the brand’s recent philanthropic efforts — in the midst of the pandemic, the brand donated 10,000 white T-shirts to frontline healthcare workers, and launched a collection co-designed by the Tommy Hilfiger community, with the proceeds going to COVID-19 relief efforts.
