The environment that surrounds us shapes how we live our lives. What we call home gives us a sense of comfort and belonging, and the importance of property is something that has been largely affected by the financial crisis, not just in the UK but worldwide.
In an upcoming exhibition Topography of Modern Life, five emerging photographers, James Berrington, Gage Solaguren, Jasper Jones, Leticia Batty and Joy Maxwell-Davis have come together to investigate temporality and meaning behind place and home. From a post-industrial town in the north of England to unfinished tourist industry hotels in Egypt, each photographer, all of whom are recent graduates from the University of Westminster, presents a body of work which explores a different story and location.
Topography of Modern Life runs from 2-4 June at the 71a Gallery, London. 2 June Private View 6-10pm.
