Michael Halpern is a star on the rise. Fresh from winning the British Emerging Talent Award for womenswear at last year’s Fashion Awards, the young designer has just announced a collaboration with retail juggernaught Topshop. Launching in early November, the collection will see Michael bring his Studio 54 inspirations and couture house detailing to the high street chain.
Set to channel the Michael’s energetic, 1970s inspired aesthetic, the Topshop x Halpern collection will focus on disco-ready partywear, with velvet separates, printed two pieces, sequin jumpsuits and iridescent camo print mini dresses.
“I think it’s fabulous that as a younger brand we’re able to work with Topshop”, says Michael. “We’re making the type of clothing we do for the main Halpern collection in an accessible way so more people can really feel the glamour. I want the whole world to feel as glam as possible, and this type of collaboration is a fantastic way to accomplish that.”
Topshop’s Global Design Director Anthony Cuthburtson said the brand were thrilled to work with Michael at an exciting time in the young designer’s career. “Our capsule embodies the disco spirit and signature female silhouettes he is renowned for”, Anthony says. “We can’t wait to bring the world of Halpern to Topshop, with styles that will no doubt kick-start the partywear season for our customers.”
With prices starting from £35, the 28 piece Topshop x Halpern collection will be ready just in time for Christmas party season. We’ve never been so excited for summer to end.
