First came the posters. Eagle-eyed Londoners will have noticed depictions of a very familiar-looking blonde wig and dark glasses combo around the city last night, accompanied by a mysterious date. This morning the theories of sleuth-like passersby were confirmed with the announcement that Tyler, the Creator will indeed be playing Lovebox 2020.
The headline slot follows Tyler’s wildly successful three night run at Brixton Academy in September, part of his Igor world tour, which marked the end of a four year Home Office ban for the California artist.
Although he clearly has no plans to stay away, Lovebox — hosted in Gunnersbury Park — is Tyler’s only London festival date next year, so if you’re keen to see your favourite rapper/singer/producer/designer/founder of Flognaw, you know where to be.
While we’re overwhelming you with good news, we should also point out that Lovebox has upped its game, expanding from just two to three days of music. The festival is also shifting forwards a month, running 12-14 June rather than in July like previous years, meaning less time to wait. Tyler might be the very first act announced from the line-up, but considering how right they got it last for 2019 — with headliners including Brockhampton, Lizzo and Solange — you can be sure there’ll be more on exciting booking news in the very near future.
Stay tuned.
