Versace are interested in bringing Kim Jones into the fold, WWD report. Sources in Milan told the publication that the storied Italian house are eyeing off the British designer, currently men’s artistic director at Louis Vuitton.
If the deal were to move forward, it would likely face a great legal hurdle. WWD report that Kim renewed his employment agreement with Louis Vuitton last year — escaping the contract could prove difficult.
Donatella Versace is “on board with a plan to bring on new creative talent,” WWD write, as she continues to reinvigorate the house. Versace’s diffusion line Versus Versace showed earlier this week during LFW on the campus of Central Saint Martins. There, Donatella explained “Versus Versace has always been about youth, defiance and most importantly, fun.”
Kim joined Louis Vuitton in 2011 as style director of the label’s ready-to-wear menswear collections, leaving his position as creative director of Alfred Dunhill. His work at Louis Vuitton has proved a critical and commercial success. His greatest triumph so far is perhaps orchestrating the blockbuster Louis Vuitton X Supreme collaboration.
