Dubbed “Fashion’s First Female Oligarch” by The Cut, Goga Ashkenazi took over the reins at Vionnet in 2012 and has since been living out her lifelong fashion fantasies through the brand. She may have made her fortune in oil and gas, but the Kazakhstan-born businesswoman is now committed to elevating the 100-year-old house with the help of her team of designers.
Whilst she’s admitted to being “tacky” in the past, she moved away from that this season with a mix of floor length, silky Grecian gowns, cutesy peach bobble jumpers and Japanese-inspired belting. Ashkenazi had fun with glamorous wheelie cases too – quite fitting for a globe-trotting glamazon. Colours moved from pastels to bright blues and lava reds (apparently some inspiration came from flying over a volcano), but some of the most effective pieces were in graphic black and white.
