Chanel’s most recent celebration of the master craftsmen behind their garments was last year’s spectacular Paris Cosmopolite 2016/17 Métiers d’Art show. Set in a space evoking the spirit of the Place Vendôme, Karl Lagerfeld drew on the idea of early café society as models and Chanel-girls including Lily-Rose Depp, Alice Dellal and Sophia Richie showcased the icon-heavy collection as they sashayed past audience-members seated around fine-dining tables.

Now, Chanel have brought this collection to Australia for a temporary installation at the Marais boutique in Melbourne. With the store transformed into a lush, navy and electric blue Ritz Parisian wonderland, the space is filled with sparkling variations on classic bags, jewellery and Chanel jackets; customised to perfection with sequins, pearls, feathers, crystals, leather flowers and jewelled buttons.
With a launch last night featuring a surprise set by The Preatures, this pop up is the first time Chanel has shown a collection beyond the walls of one of its own stores in Australia. The installation will be open until July 9th for anyone keen to see the couture up close.
