British fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood staged a protest in London yesterday against the process of fracking. Noted for her long-term involvement in social and environmental activism, Westwood denounced fracking as a “crime against humanity” urging people to “listen to the activists and the scientists.” Holding a doll covered in bloodstains – intended to illustrate the potential impact of fracking of future generations – and flanked by mad-max style performers on stilts, Westwood painted a clear picture of a post-apocalyptic world. The protest was organised by Talk Fracking, an activist group headed by her son Joseph Corré, co-founder of lingerie label Agent Provocateur. In this family, fashion and activism go hand in hand.
A few weeks back the dame gave us some of her activism tip, check them out here!
