Next week, Vivienne Westwood will take a brief break from saving the world to accept the Savannah College of Art and Design’s Andre Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award. The iconic British designer and tireless activist follows Manolo Blahnik, Tom Ford, Diane Von Furstenberg, and most recently, Oscar de la Renta, in receiving the honor, which she’ll accept on May 15 in a ceremony at SCAD’s annual fashion show. She’ll also speak to The Cut’s Veronique Highland about shaking up the fashion industry for the past 40 years in a conversation open to the public.
In addition to the award, Dame Viv will be the subject of a SCAD Museum of Art exhibition. Andre Leon Talley will curate the 25-piece show, so expect to see some of the punk godmother’s most legendary looks, from World’s End to wedding couture. Fingers crossed she runs into presidential hopeful Ted Cruz, who will be delivering a keynote at the Georgia Republican Party convention next week, while she’s down there–we’re sure she’s got a few choice words about his views on global warming.
