Following on from her politically charged Politicians are CRIMINALS spring/summer 16 collection, Dame Viv is once more leading the charge to save the world. From preserving the rain forest to highlighting the effects of industrial fishing, for her latest collection, entitled Be Specific, Dame Viv has turned her attention to global warming. To coincide with her autumn/winter 16 menswear show, which featured a selection of tailored tartan pieces and phallic jewellery and culminated in a touching tribute to the late David Bowie, Vivienne has also released a powerful political video, which can only be described as a visual call to arms

In other news, Vivienne’s spring/summer 16 campaign, entitled Mirror the World, has finally arrived. Shot around the enchanting alleys, canals, shipyards and palazzos of Venice, Jeurgen Teller’s sumptuous images highlight the beauty and decay of Venice, and therefore the urgent need to save the city- something which Vivienne actually alludes to in her Be Specific. “The scientist Contessa Jane da Mosto has been campaigning to save Venice,” says Vivienne in a statement, “The lagoon is one of the most wonderful wetlands in the world: exquisite symbiosis between the animals and plants that stabalise the sediment from the freshwater rivers and Venice itself which has grown with the lagoon. If Venice were not there the wetlands would have become either land or a bay – the sea having swept away the sediment. The biggest problem now seems to be the cruise ships, which tear up the lagoon. It’s a total false economy to allow them. The Contessa says that Venice is ‘the canary in the mine’. If we can’t save Venice, how do we save the world?”
