Jenny Lee Lindberg is the cooler than cool Warpaint bassist who also plays for the likes of Kurt Vile and SBTRKT. This year however, she has dedicated herself to something she’s been meaning to do for quite some time; a solo record. Working with producer friend Norm Block as well as bandmate (Warpaint are still very much together) Stella Mozgawa on drums, Jenny Lee – or Jennylee as she has adopted for the project – has crafted an impressive ten-track LP called right on! The record is largely bass-heavy pop and while there are strong similarities to Warpaint’s sound, it is clear that Jenny Lee has crafted something deeply personal.
“IT’S RECORD RELEASE DAY! What a journey! What an accomplishment!” she posted on her public Facebook page. “Ladies and gentleman, I’ve done my work. And I was recently given the best advice… it’s really none of my business how it’s perceived. I had a ball making it, I had a blast expressing my inners, and I may be having even more fun playing it live! I’m living. I’m loving. I’m feeling. I’m making it happen for myself… you can too!” Currently in Europe, she plays Point Ephemere in Paris on Saturday 12th before hitting LA’s The Echo on 16th and then gearing up for a short US tour in early 2016. Until then, check out the trailer below and always follow Jenny Lee’s good advice.
