Earl Sweatshirt has dropped a new video for Off Top, from his 2015 sophomore album I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside. In the video, VHS-style news footage is warped and colour-tinted, then layered with animated illustrations of Earl as he wanders through the city.
A police car is surrounded by dancing fires at the start and we see Earl writhing on a bed of flames before being eaten, beaten up by a gang of thugs and chased by an encroaching darkness. As he raps the final line “I hope the sheriff keep away from me”, the pig-face of an American policeman fills the screen, before receding to reveal footage of riot police looking toward a massive protest march.
