“Jeremy Scott changed my life,” enthuses A$AP Rocky in the trailer for an upcoming fashion film about the Kansas farm boy turned global fashion megastar, released ahead of our massive i-D and Jeremy Scott for Moschino party in London tonight.

Jeremy Scott: The People’s Designer, a film by Vlad Yudin and Matt Kapp – the producer behind Valentino: The Last Emperor – tracks Scott’s journey from an oddball kid on a Kansas farm, to a poor fashion student in New York and onto the international fashion catwalks as a bonafide pop culture phenomenon.

Scott describes his young self as, “a kid in a small town on a farm looking at magazines and seeing high fashion and wanting to be a part of it so badly”; but moving from Kansas and into the fashion capital of New York wasn’t easy: “There would be times I had to sleep in the metro, because there was not a place to go,” he confesses.

“Yo shorty, you got wings on your sneakers right now?!” A$AP Rocky exclaims, to illustrate his assertion that Scott, “put the bridge together between the ghetto and high end fashion”. Of his own designs, Scott says, “I want my clothes to live, to party, to have fun, to create a moment.” And there are plenty of moments in just this short teaser, from the pressure of his first Moschino show, when the eyes of the fashion world were waiting to see what he would do, to arriving at award ceremonies with Rihanna and celebrating backstage with Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus, who says of her fashion spirit animal, “His clothes represent people being very expressive and forward and fully free; and it’s kind of empowering”.
