Smart phones, scary face masks and frenemies: the trailer for #HORROR is here. A bloody thriller for the smartphone cyber bully age, the upcoming pre-teen scream flick is the directorial debut of actor and former Imitation of Christ designer Tara Subkoff. The film stars her mates: 90s teen film heroes Chloë Sevigny and Natasha Lyonne as mothers (!!), Lyonne’s Orange is the New Black co-star Taryn Manning, and daughter of kidnapped bank-robbing badass Patty — Lydia Hearst.
The film was inspired by a chilling revelation from Subkoff’s family friends. Speaking on the film’s inspirations earlier, the director explained that although you could once escape school bullies by going home or moving school in more extreme cases, today, digital technology has made it so that you can never get away — no matter how many continents you cross. Even in their glass-walled ivory tower, filled with modern art by (Subkoff’s IRL partner) Urs Fisher, Rob Pruitt and Dan Colen, the six 12-year-old girl main characters are not safe.
