We believe there needs to be a day dedicated to nationwide reflection on climate change, the targets that we have to meet in order to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees (above which lies real catastrophe) and what’s being done to make sure we meet those targets. We can also use the day to celebrate the achievements we’ve made in addressing this urgent threat.
As part of a National Climate Day, we would encourage nurseries, schools and colleges to dedicate the day to conversations and projects about climate change and the environmental and human impact we have on the planet. We want big business to use the day to pledge new sustainable initiatives –– from setting emissions reduction targets, to going plastic-free and supporting global reforestation through tree planting schemes.
With a countrywide focus on climate change, covered on the news and across all media, we believe real action will begin to take place to green-proof the UK’s future. We need change now.
