Taylor Swift might have a pretty formidable posse–counting Cara Delevingne, the Hadid sisters, Karlie Kloss, Lorde, and most recently Serena Williams among her ride or dies. But i-D contributor and young creative Petra Collins has assembled her own gang of iconic and revolutionary women to rival even Swift’s super squad.
The 22-year-old photographer enlisted a seriously solid roster of muses for a new portrait series produced in collaboration with Levis. Collins tapped recent Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame inductee (and Miley homegirl) Joan Jett to join her enviable entourage as well as Pharrell protege and future chart topping soul singer Jillian Hervey of Lion Babe. She also brought fellow young artists Tali Lennox and Phoebe Collings-James to the project.
This sorority of sorts pushes forward Collins’ aims to inspire young girls to celebrate their individuality feel confident doing it. The dream-like portraits, all shot in a fuzzy morning light, showcase well-loved Levis and remind us that nothing is as stylish as an empowered woman.
