    Wes Anderson’s Alpine comedy caper, The Grand Budapest Hotel, is a BAFTA favourite, with 11 nominations, including Best Film, Best Director and Leading Actor for Ralph Fiennes. Other films leading the nominations are Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Birdman (10), Stephen Hawkins biopic The Theory of Everything (10) and the story of gay British spy Alan Turing, The Imitation Game (9).

    Ralph Fiennes will battle it out against Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game), Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything), Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler) and Michael Keaton (Birdman) for Leading Actor, and in the Leading Actress category, it’s between Amy Adams (Big Eyes), Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Julianna Moore (Still Alice), Reese Witherspoon (Wild) and Rosamund Pike(Gone Girl).

    The EE British Academy Film Awards take place on Sunday 8th February at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London and will be hosted by soon-to-be-wed Stephen Fry.
