Wear… everything from the SSENSE sale

Sometimes, being late to the party serves you well. Case in point: SSENSE’s always well stocked winter sale, which hits the 70% off mark. Now, if you’re looking to spruce up your wardrobe — think bits from Jacquemus, Valentino, MM6 Maison Margiela, Diesel and more — but don’t have the post-Christmas purse of your dreams, now’s your time. Dive in and start the rummage here.

    Snag… Glossier deodorant

Soon, every part of your morning routine will involve Glossier. The cult beauty brand, known for their skincare, makeup and more, are now delving into the world of natural deodorants. Their effort — free of nasty things that have historically irritated the skin or disrupted its pH balance — looks cute on the shelf, and comes in three scents: their classic Glossier You, Orange Blossom Neroli and Sandstone, inspired by the spirit of Big Sur. It launches on Glossier.com on the 17 January.

    Watch… the Sundance Film Festival

This year is the first full-swing Sundance since 2020, and the films in its line-up are worthy of the attention. i-D’s Jenna Mahale has already done a significant run-down of the movies you can expect to see there when it kicks off on the 19 January, but did you know you can watch a lot of them, virtually, if you’re based in the US? Most of those mentioned in Jenna’s list are included, as well as a few others. Keep an eye out for the Barry Jenkins-produced All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt, and Passages, a knotty-sounding queer love story starring arthouse king Franz Rogowski, Ben Whishaw and Blue is the Warmest Colour’s Adèle Exarchopoulos. Read… No Finish Line

Celebrating a 50th birthday is always a big deal, but that holds especially true when you’re one of the biggest sportswear brands in the whole world. Yes, this year, Nike is popping the cork to celebrate half a century of supporting and platforming some of the most incredible athletes, and has a whole raft of celebratory plans in the pipeline — as they damn well should! To kick off their half-century celebrations, they’ve released No Finish Line, a book that charts 50 years of game-changing design and innovation in the service of sportspeople, and looks to the future ahead in the hopes of inspiring a new generation of athletes to realise the infinite potential of design and sport. Available from 14 February, it’ll be available through a selection of booksellers worldwide — head here to check out which ones!

    Listen to… AntsLive

We wrote about London’s AntsLive a little while back, at a time when he was just starting out. Look at him now: his new track “Number One Candidate” — a rap track that deserves to be blasted across old school music channels and radio — sees him bounding over the competition. It comes with a ridiculously good video too, courtesy of i-D contributor Tom Emmerson. Watch it above, share it with a dozen folk, and follow him on Instagram.

    Venna

He won a Grammy for his work with Burna Boy; now the London multi-instrumentalist Venna is expanding his own sonic journey with new collaboration “Casa Lopez”, which takes him Stateside with Masego and Mick Jenkins. A smooth cut from a new and exciting musical mastermind. Follow him on Instagram for further updates.

Go to… How Long Gone at MOTH Club

Pop cultural podcasters Chris Black and Jason Stewart launched How Long Gone during the pandemic, inviting friends like Phoebe Bridgers and Lena Dunham on. Their cynical, tongue-in-cheek takes on the world of fashion, music and wider culture has proven popular with audiences, and you can see an episode unfold live, IRL, at East London’s MOTH Club on 29 January. The all-day party celebrates good music, cocktails and fine cuisine from chef John Javier, whose hyped work at MASTER, his restaurant in Sydney, Australia, put him on the map. The all-you-can-eat small plates will be accompanied by music from DJs Alex Turnbull and Harri Pepper. Tickets are sold out, but a select few should be available on the door for early birds. Alternatively, you can sample a special a la a carte menu next week by booking a spot here.
