“If I ever had to choose between fashion and women, I would choose women,” Carine Roitfeld told i-D last September. And indeed, she has chosen 20 girls of the moment for CR Girls 2016 — the newly announced companion volume to the eighth issue of the iconic editor’s magazine CR Fashion Book.
Though Roitfeld still believes Paris is the capital of fashion, she’s devoting CR Fashion Book‘s forthcoming issue to exploring the idea of Americana. And what better tribute to the red, white, and blue than American model mania? “For me, no model was more iconic than Christie Brinkley with her white teeth and blonde hair, and her image was so compelling that it set a new beauty standard,” Roitfeld told Women’s Wear Daily in a report published this morning. “Now suddenly in 2016, we see the comeback of the American girl, and I find myself so excited by this new generation of stars.”
CR Fashion Book‘s website confirms the 48 pages of girls, girls, girls have all been shot by Brooklyn-born photographer Sante D’Orazio, and each model will be styled in American designs, courtesy of Kanye West. “The girls will all be dressed (sometimes barely) in Kanye West’s second Yeezy collection with Gianvito Rossi shoes.”
CR Girls 2016 arrives with the magazine proper, which is slated to hit stands on February 25. WWD reports CR Fashion Book will feature four covers, but its stars are still unknown (though Gigi Hadid is certain to appear in some capacity, as her image has already been shared in the issue’s first look).
