We fell in love with Issa Rae in 2011 when she was “merely” an online hit, with her brilliantly observational Awkward Black Girl webseries. Since then, she’s been snapped up by HBO who commissioned the brilliant Insecure, a series which ruminates on everything from infidelity and friendships to oral sex and gentrification. Insecure not only looks incredible, it sounds it too, thanks to contributions from awesomeness such as Frank Ocean, SZA and Solange. Currently working on the third series of Insecure, in 2018 Issa is also set to star in her debut feature film, an adaptation of Audrey Wells’ book The Hate That U Give, co-starring Amandla Stenberg, Regina Hall and Common.
As for the rest of us, in 2018 Issa wants us all to PAY ATTENTION and MIND OUR OWN BUSINESS.
Who are we to argue?
