As if an Alexander Wang show wasn’t exciting enough, the designer closed his NYFW spring/summer 2017 collection by casually debuting his new offering with adidas Originals. Once his models had shown the pieces everyone — including Madonna and Nicki Minaj — had come out to see, they returned for the final walk wearing the all-black, unisex athleisure offerings. While they were changing, a one-and-a-half minute security camera themed film by Karim Hu Doo played.
The collaboration wasn’t a surprise in itself, WWD announced it in July, but the reveal was. There were hoodies, sweatshirts, shoes, and darkly preppy polos in an array of eclectic fabrics. The designer also played with the brand’s famous iconography, inverting the adidas logo and famous stripe detail.
In a twist on fashion and music’s current obsession with pop-up stores, the Wang x adidas collection will be available on September 17 around the world via “pop-truck.” Major cities such as Tokyo and London will see the trucks take to streets. Immediately after the show, a handful of trucks blessed a few locations around Manhattan and Brooklyn with early offerings.

The designer hinted at the truck’s existence on Snapchat last week when he posted a phone number — 917-325-3342 — which provides a schedule of where the mobile stores will be. Don’t worry if it’s nowhere near you though; the 84-pieces collection will also be available in-store and online. But if Wang’s H&M collaboration was anything to go by, you’re going to want to get in early. To further whet your appetite, the adidas Originals by Alexander Wang imagery has been captured by Juergen Teller and features Rocco Ritchie in his first-ever campaign, alongside long-time Alexander Wang models Hanne Gaby Odiele, Binx Walton, Lexi Boling, as well as Luke Storey and Chris Fernandez.
