When the world is in disarray and your calendar reads Monday, it’s nice to get a bit of a good news. Great news, even. So: Bikini Kill reunited last night for the first time in 20 years.
Original Riot Grrrls Kathleen Hanna, Tobi Vail and Kathi Wilcox took to the stage together at at the launch of a book on The Raincoats by Pitchfork editor Jenn Pelly, before The Raincoats themselves took their turn to perform. And while Bikini Kill reissued their albums Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah and Revolution Girl Style Now in 2014 and 2015 respectively, it’s been a long twenty years since they’ve graced us with their physical appearance on stage at the same time.
And we couldn’t be more ready for it — their DIY, don’t-fuck-with-us attitude is exactly the soundtrack we need in the current political climate. Riot Grrrls unite
